Sebastian Errazuriz attempts to capture the fleeting allure of nature through meticulously 3D modeled sculptures of unique flowers. Emulating a botanist's precision, each species is replicated in exquisite detail.
Eschewing the conventional beauty ideals prevalent in the market, such as roses, peonies, or tulips, Errazuriz opts for a diverse array of wildflowers. These are flowers that have thrived against the odds, flourishing without the benefit of rich soil or careful nurturing.
The sculptures are brought to life using a powder bed 3D printer, a choice not just for its remarkable precision that captures every nuance of petals and roots, but also as a symbolic nod to the resilience of these wildflowers. The printing process, reminiscent of an archeological excavation, gently unveils the flowers from their powder cocoon, highlighting their miraculous emergence from dust.
The culmination of this process is a series of strikingly immortalized wildflowers. They stand as an imperfect yet profound tribute to the overlooked natural beauty surrounding us.
